Zovo Spreadsheet Checker

Check a spreadsheet for errors before you import or send it, with each problem cell, its row, column and value.

Zovo Spreadsheet Checker reads a CSV or Excel file and finds the data errors that break imports and reports, such as dates that do not exist (February 30, month 13, February 29 in a non-leap year), dates written in a different order or format than the rest of the column, invalid email addresses and likely domain typos, phone numbers with the wrong number of digits, duplicate IDs and duplicate rows, blank cells in columns that should be filled, text and placeholders in number columns, numbers stored as text, mixed decimal marks, leading and trailing spaces, IDs and ZIP codes that lost their leading zeros or turned into 1.2E+15, formula errors, and row totals that do not add up. Column types are detected from the values and headings, and you can add your own rules: required columns, unique columns, allowed values, numeric ranges and total formulas. You get an issue list with row, column and the cell value, counts per check, an Excel copy with problem cells highlighted plus an Issues sheet, and a CSV of the issues. For Excel files the copy is your own workbook with flagged cells filled, so formulas and formats stay as they were.

What it does

• Impossible, ambiguous and mixed-format dates, with the day/month order decided once per column

• Duplicate IDs and fully duplicated rows, with the row each one repeats

Limitations

• CSV, TSV and .xlsx only (save older .xls files as .xlsx); one sheet per check, up to 50,000 rows and 200 columns
• Checks the format and consistency of values; it cannot confirm that an email inbox or phone line exists
• Formulas are read as their last saved values; it does not fix the data, it lists and highlights problems
